Our group is based right here in Garhkamalpur, which is a quiet village in the Mahishadal area. The Satish Samanta Farmer Producer Company Limited is really just a bunch of local people who live and work the land around here. We've been at this for quite a while now. Most of us grew up in these same houses and played in these same fields as kids. Farming is the only thing we truly know, so it made a lot of sense for us to group up. The post office and the station are nearby, and that's where we handle most of our mail and official business. It’s a very calm village for the most part. You see the same familiar faces every single morning. We handle things like buying seeds in bulk and talking to the different buyers who come through the district. It’s not always an easy life. Sometimes the weather just doesn't play nice, or the prices in the market drop for no reason at all. We just keep going because that's what you have to do to survive. We don't have any big offices or shiny signs to show off. It's just a simple room where we keep our records and meet up to talk. People in Mahishadal know who we are. We try to keep things very simple. There’s no point in making things complicated when you're just trying to sell what you grow. It's our life.
