Nabkishan Farmer Producer Company Limited is based over in Phulbandha. You can find us at Samaru Bishijharial’s house. We are a small group, mostly just family and friends from the village. Farming in this area is all we’ve ever known. We decided to form this company because we wanted to have a bit more say in how our produce is handled. It’s not easy work. Most days start before the sun is up. We don't have any fancy equipment, just the usual stuff you’d find on a local farm. We talk a lot about the weather and the soil. Sometimes the crops are good, sometimes they aren't. That’s just how it goes. We try to help each other out with seeds and advice. It’s a very simple operation. We don't have any big slogans or mission statements. We just want to keep our farms running and maybe save a little money by working together. Phulbandha is a small place, so everyone knows what we’re doing. We keep our records in a few ledgers at Samaru’s place. It gets a bit hectic during harvest time, and we all have to pitch in. There’s no boss, just us farmers trying to figure things out. We aren't looking to expand into some giant company; we just want to do right by our land and our neighbors. There’s always a lot of chatter about which seeds are actually working this year. We don't rely on big advertisements, just what we see with our own eyes in the dirt. It's a long way from the big cities, and we like the quiet.
