If you head over to Haripur, you will find us at Rajendra Prasad Sharma’s place. We called ourselves Devjaivik because we wanted to focus on a more natural way of farming. It is not always easy because the old ways take more time and effort. But we like it. The village of Haripur is where we all grew up, so we know every corner of it. We don't have any big marketing plans or glossy brochures. We just show people what we are growing and let the produce speak for itself. Sometimes we have long debates about the best way to compost or how to keep the bugs away without using the heavy chemicals. It’s a lot of trial and error, to be honest. Rajendra has a lot of patience with the paperwork, which is good because the rest of us just want to be outside. We are a small group, just a handful of producers from the local area. We don't have a big sign outside, just a sense of community. It is a quiet life, but we are always busy with something. Whether it is planting or harvesting, there is never a dull moment. We are just regular people trying to do something good for our land and our neighbors. It feels right to work this way and we hope to keep at it for many more seasons to come. We just do our best with what we have.
