Khejuri is where we are based, specifically in Mouza-Bhupatichak in the village of Fulbari. Nupur Sahoo is the person who keeps things running at the office. We are called Khejuri Smart Krishi Farmer Producer Company Limited. Don’t let the word 'smart' make you think we are some high-tech outfit. It’s just a name. We are still out here in the dirt and the sun most days. Janka is the post office we use. It’s a quiet area for the most part, but it gets busy when it’s time to plant or harvest. Nupur’s place is where we keep the records. We don't have a lot of staff, just a few of us who know the area well. We deal with the farmers from all the nearby villages. It’s a lot of talking and a lot of lists. Sometimes we forget to write things down, and we have to remember them later. It’s not a perfect system, but it works for us. Khejuri is a good place to be if you like the countryside. We aren't looking to change the world, just trying to make things a bit easier for the people around here. We’ve got our address and our name, and that’s about all we need to get through the day. The tea is always hot and the talk is always about the next crop. That is just how we get by here every single season.
