Jamna Mahila Kisan Producer Company Limited

We set up Jamna Mahila Kisan Producer Company Limited in the village of Ramkrishnapur. It’s located at Plot No. 508, near the Brahmanigram post office. This is a women-led group because we realized the ladies in our village do a huge amount of the farm work but often don't have a say in the business side. We wanted to change that. Now, we gather here to talk about our crops and how to get better prices. The office is small and simple, right in the middle of our village. Birbhum is a place with a lot of tradition, and we are just trying to build on that. We handle everything from buying seeds to organizing transport for the harvest. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when everyone is talking at once. We don't have a receptionist or fancy furniture. Usually, someone is making tea while we look over the accounts. We work around our chores and family schedules. Most of us have kids and houses to look after too, so the company is a way to make our farming work more efficient. It’s about being practical and helping each other through the seasons. If the crop is good, we celebrate, and if it’s bad, we figure out how to get through the next few months. It’s just how life goes in Ramkrishnapur. We try to help each other out whenever someone is struggling with their plot.
