Bhulla Singh Rawat’s son runs the main part of Somvan Farmer Producer Company Limited from Nagla Vidhi. That’s in the Dagheta area of Mathura. We are all local farmers from this part of Baldev. Mathura is our home and we know the land here very well. We started this group because we wanted to have a say in how our crops are sold. It’s easy to get lost when you are just one person. Together, we feel like we have more of a voice. We meet in the village and talk about the daily problems. Maybe it’s a pest issue or the price of electricity for the pumps. We don't have a professional manager. We just handle it ourselves. Bhulla Singh’s family has been here a long time and people trust them. We focus on the practical side of things. How do we get the best harvest this year? What can we do to save on costs? These are the questions we ask. It isn't a polished business. We have dirt on our boots and we talk plainly. We are proud of our village Nagla Vidhi. People work hard here from sunrise to sunset. We just want to make that hard work count for something. It’s about keeping the farms going for the next generation. We don't need any big promises, just a bit of cooperation among neighbors to get through the seasons.
