Ramanlal Shorawala International School

Ramanlal Shorawala International School is located out towards Rawal on Baldev Road, near Maholi Road in Mathura. It is a bit of a drive from the main city center, which means we get a bit more peace and quiet than the schools right in the middle of the temple areas. The road outside can get very dusty, especially when the tractors go by during the harvest season. We have a pretty large gate and a bit of open space where the kids can run around and play. The building itself is sturdy, though we are always fixing a leaky tap or a broken window latch somewhere. Being in Mathura, we see a lot of pilgrims passing through on the main roads nearby, but our daily life is much more about school bags and homework. My office has a window that looks out onto the entrance, so I see everyone coming and going throughout the day. The staff here are mostly people who live nearby in the surrounding villages or on the outskirts of the city. We have a lot of meetings about the bus schedules because the roads can be unpredictable with traffic or construction. Sometimes the monkeys come down from the trees and we have to make sure they don't get into the kids' lunch bags. It’s just regular life here, nothing too complicated. We focus on the lessons and making sure the kids are safe until their parents pick them up in the afternoon.
