About Keshavdev Awasiya Inter College – Education in Mathura
We’ve been here in Sonkh for quite a while now. Most people around Mathura know where we are, just tucked away in this part of the district. It’s a busy place during the day when the kids are running around. Since it’s an inter college, we see a lot of students from the nearby villages coming in every morning. The building itself is pretty simple, nothing fancy, just classrooms and a playground where the boys play football when it’s not too hot. We have the residential side too, so there are always people around, even in the evenings. It gets a bit quiet during the summer holidays, which is a nice change of pace for those of us who stay back to look after the gates. Managing a school in a place like this means dealing with power cuts and dusty roads, but that’s just how it is here. We keep the registers updated and make sure the benches are in good shape before the new term starts. The teachers usually sit in the small staff room during breaks, drinking tea and talking about the upcoming exams. It’s not a big corporate operation, just a local school trying to get through the syllabus. People stop by the office to ask about admissions or just to say hello if they’re passing through Sonkh. We’ve got a lot of trees on the grounds which helps keep things a bit cooler during the May heat.
