Mlns Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Jhurawai, which is part of the Farah block in Mathura. Karan Singh’s place is the main spot where we handle everything. It’s a very local operation, rooted right here in the soil of Uttar Pradesh. We formed this company because we knew that as a group, we’d have a better chance of making a living from our farms. Individual farming is getting harder every year with costs going up. We don’t have a fancy corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just a few of us who took the lead to get the paperwork done. Our office is a simple room with some chairs and a table where we keep the records. People from Jhurawai and the nearby areas drop in whenever they have a concern or just to see what the plan is for the next season. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or advertisements. We’d rather put that money back into the collective. It’s all about the basics here—seeds, water, and hard work. We help each other out with the heavy lifting and the selling. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know and what we have always done. Being a farmer producer company gives us a bit of dignity and a way to protect our interests as a community in the Farah block.
