We named this one Late Shiv Ratan Yadav Farmer Producer Company Limited to honor someone who meant a lot to our farming community. We are based at House Number 1 in Village Mawai Khurd. It is a quiet spot, but there is always something going on with the crops. We are a collective of farmers from around the village and the post area of Mawai Khurd. Most of us have been working these fields since we were kids. This company is how we try to manage our harvest and get things to the buyers without getting cheated too much. It is hard to do everything alone when you are a small farmer. We meet up at the house to talk about the price of diesel or why the wheat isn't looking so good this year. It is very informal. You might find some of us sitting on the steps talking for hours about the weather or the price of supplies. We don't use big words or have fancy meetings. We just want to make sure our families are okay and the land stays healthy for the future. There is a lot of dirt under our fingernails and we wouldn't have it any other way. Mawai Khurd is home, and this company is just our way of looking out for each other. We take it one season at a time and hope for the best for the village. It’s just us, the local farmers, doing the best we can every day.
