Kaka Dalchand Farmers Producer Company Limited

We started this group out of Devesh Kumar's house here in Mathura, specifically in Garhiramval. It’s a small operation where a few of us locals got together because we were tired of how things were going with the crops and the markets. Kaka Dalchand is the name we went with, named after family roots. We spend most of our time out in the fields or sitting around the porch at the Kaka house trying to figure out how to get better seeds or handle the transport. It’s not a big fancy office with computers and air conditioning. It’s just us. Some days are harder than others, especially when the weather doesn't play nice or the prices drop without warning. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just trying to make sure the farmers in our little corner of Uttar Pradesh have a bit more say in what happens to their work. We deal with the daily stuff like storage and finding buyers who actually pay on time. Devesh helps keep the paperwork in some kind of order, though there’s always a lot of it. It’s mostly about sticking together so nobody gets left behind when the season gets busy. We don't have a big staff, just people who know the land. Sometimes we meet late at night after the farm work is done. It’s just the way it is here in Mathura. We are learning as we go, making mistakes but keeping at it because there isn't much other choice for us.
