We are based in Village Dedona, in the Naugheel area of Mathura. Our office is right at Ratnees’s place. It’s a farmer organization, so it’s all about the people living in the village. Dedana Pragati Farmer Organization Producer Company Limited is our way of working together instead of alone. In Mathura, farming is what most of us have known since we were kids. We grow our crops and then we try to sell them as a group. It’s usually better than trying to do it all by yourself. The office isn't much to look at, really. It’s just a space where we meet and talk. Sometimes the meetings go on for hours because everyone has something to say or a complaint to make. We don't have any fancy marketing or logos. We just know everyone in the village. It’s a lot of hard work. We deal with the irrigation issues and trying to get decent seed quality. It’s not a clean job. We often have mud on our boots when we come into the office. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Uttar Pradesh. We just want to make sure the families here can make a decent living. It’s about progress for us, the actual farmers. We take it one day at a time. The heat in the summer is something else, but we get through it. It's just part of life here in Dedona.
