Om Shanti Plastic

Down here in GIDC Estate in Kukarwada, things move at their own pace. Om Shanti Plastic has been sitting at K-1/11 for several years now. We started out with just one small injection machine and a lot of hope. Now we have a few more, and the shed is always full of that smell of melting plastic. It is not a bad smell once you get used to it. The guys who work here live mostly nearby, so we all know each other’s families and what is going on in the village. We make a lot of different plastic items, mostly things people use every day but do not really think about. The floor is always covered in those little plastic granules, no matter how much we sweep. It is a bit dusty and the summer heat makes the machines run hot, so we have to be careful. We do not do much advertising because most of our work comes from people just knowing we are here. If someone needs a batch of parts made, they just walk in or call the shop phone. We do not have a website or anything fancy, just our hands and the machines. We try to keep our prices fair because we know how hard it is for everyone else too. Life at the estate is mostly about making sure the electricity stays on and the raw material arrives on time. It is a simple life but it belongs to us.
