United Thermal Refractories

Working out of Amirtha Tower on the Chennai Bypass Road has its ups and downs. The traffic on the bypass is constant, just a long line of trucks and cars moving past Varaganeri all day and night. We are at 128/1, and the office is functional but nothing special to look at. We deal with heat-resistant stuff, so we talk about temperatures and materials that don't melt quite a lot. It’s a niche thing I suppose. The air inside the warehouse can get a bit stuffy during the summer months but we have a few big fans that keep things moving. We usually have piles of samples sitting on the tables because people want to feel the weight and texture before they decide on anything. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most of us are in old trousers and shirts that we don't mind getting a bit dirty. Sometimes we have to stay late to wait for a delivery that got stuck in traffic near the city entrance. We just sit out on the steps and watch the lights on the highway until the truck pulls in. It’s a lot of waiting followed by a lot of heavy lifting. My brother handles most of the paperwork while I stay on the floor making sure the inventory is where it should be. We’ve been at this location for a good while now and know the neighbors.
