Sun Steel Traders

Sun Steel Traders is sitting at 57, Tamil Sangam Road in the Simmakkal area. It is an old part of town with a lot of history in the streets. Our shop is right on the road, so we see everything that goes on. We have been at this address for a long time. The building is simple, with a wide front that stays open during business hours. We have rows of steel bars and sheets stacked along the walls. It doesn't leave much room for walking, but we manage. The floor is concrete and has plenty of scratches from moving heavy items. We don't have air conditioning, so we rely on the breeze from the street and a couple of old ceiling fans. Simmakkal is a lively place, especially in the evenings when more people are out. We get a mix of customers, some looking for just a small piece of steel for a home project and others looking for much more. We don't have any formal uniforms or fancy sales pitches. We just tell people what we have and how much it costs. Sometimes we sit out front on wooden stools when things are quiet. It is a basic way of living and working. We know the other shop owners on Tamil Sangam Road, and we all just try to get through our daily lists.
