S S T Metal is located at No 1 in Katchakatti, right in the heart of the Madurai Bazaar area. If you know the bazaar, you know it’s a crowded and loud place. There are people everywhere, and the smells of the market are always in the air. Our shop is a bit small, but we make use of every inch of space we have. We deal in metal, so there are pipes and sheets leaned up against the walls. It can be a bit of a maze just trying to walk from the front door to the back. We don't have air conditioning, so we just leave the front shutters open to get a bit of a breeze. It gets very hot in Madurai, and working with metal doesn't help. We've been in Katchakatti for a long time now. People come to us when they need a piece of metal cut to size or a bit of welding done. We don't have a catalog or a fancy price list. We just look at what you need and tell you what it will cost. The bazaar is a tough place to get a truck into, so we often have to use handcarts to move things around. It's a lot of physical labor, but that’s the way we’ve always done it. We’re just local people doing a local job. We stay open late most nights to finish up.
