Nilam Steels

You can find Nilam Steels at 154, right across from SVN College in Nagamalai Puthukottai. Being opposite the college means there’s always a lot of activity on the road, with students and buses passing by all day. We’re a steel trading business, which means we spend our time managing stocks of various metal products. The shop is a simple structure, mostly used for storage and a small area where we handle the billing. We don’t have any big neon signs or a polished showroom. Most of our customers are local builders or people working on their own houses who need a bit of steel for a lintel or a gate. We try to keep our prices fair because we know people are working with tight budgets. Sometimes we have to hunt through the stacks to find exactly the right size, and it might take a few minutes, but we usually get there. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way. We don't have to deal with too much red tape or corporate meetings. We just open the doors in the morning, sweep the front, and wait to see who comes in. It’s been our way for a long time. The neighborhood is friendly, and we often chat with the other shop owners nearby during the slow hours. It’s just a normal part of life here in Nagamalai Puthukottai, doing our bit.
