Sri Meenakshi Stone Metal Works

Our workplace is at 79, P T Rajan Main Road in the B B Kulam area. It's a busy street, and we fit right in with the noise. We deal with stone metal, so there’s always the sound of things being moved or crushed. Sri Meenakshi Stone Metal Works has been around this part of town for a good while now. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how to handle the material. The yard is usually full of different sizes of stone. You get dusty just walking through the gate. We spend most of the morning checking the machines and seeing what needs to be delivered. The traffic on the main road can be a bit of a headache when the big trucks are trying to get in. We just have to be patient. People from all over the neighborhood come by when they are doing some construction at home. We don't do much in the way of talking; we just show them the piles and let them decide. It’s a practical way to run a business. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon. We usually take a break then. It’s just how the days go by here. There’s a tea stall just down the road that we go to when we need a breather. It’s a lot of heavy lifting but we are used to the rhythm of it.
