Old Primary School

Our school is located on the second floor of the Master Building, right on Theni Main Road in the Kalavasal area of Madurai. If you know Madurai, you know that Kalavasal is a very busy spot with a lot of traffic and people constantly moving through. Being on the second floor helps us stay a bit above the noise, but you can still hear the city life all day long. It’s a primary school, so we have the younger children here. The space is fairly simple, with classrooms that used to be regular office or shop spaces in the building. We don’t have a big open field for the kids to run around in, which isn't ideal, but we make it work by using the indoor space as best as we can. The teachers are mostly local women who know how to handle a room full of energetic kids. We don’t have fancy equipment or new furniture. Most of the desks have been here for a long time and show plenty of wear. Parents drop their kids off in the morning, often struggling to find a place to park for a minute on the busy main road. It’s a convenient location for people living in the Kalavasal neighborhood. We just focus on the basic reading, writing, and math. It’s a small, practical school that’s been part of the building for a while now. We just do our work and try to keep the kids focused on their books.
