K. K. L Exports

Our business, K. K. L Exports, is located at 62, Karpaga Nagar, down on 7th Street in K. Pudur. This part of Madurai can get incredibly hot, so we usually have the fans going at full speed from the moment we walk in. The building is basically a large hall where we do all our packing and checking. There are boxes everywhere, stacked up to the ceiling sometimes, waiting to be sent off to different places. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure the labels are stuck on straight. It’s not very exciting work, but it keeps us busy from morning until evening. 7th Street is a bit narrow, so when the big trucks come to collect the goods, it’s always a bit of a scramble to get everything loaded quickly. Most of the staff live nearby in K. Pudur, so we usually share news about the neighborhood over our tea breaks. We don't have a fancy reception area or a big sign out front. We just have our name painted on the gate and a couple of desks for the paperwork. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit outside for a bit until it comes back, which gives us a chance to talk to the neighbors. It’s just a simple, hardworking place where we try to get things shipped out on time without too much worry about the small things. It's a long day, but we like the pace.
