J. S. Elastic Private Ltd is tucked away on Plot No.- 33 in Park Town. Being located in P & T Nagar is actually quite nice because it is a decent area for getting work done without all the constant noise from the main city roads. We spend most of our time here making different kinds of elastic. It is one of those things people never really think about until it snaps or stops stretching like it should. We have these machines running through most of the day. The sound they make becomes like background music after you hear it for a few years. You just get used to the rhythm of the looms and the smell of the raw materials. It is not a glamorous job, to be honest. My hands are usually a bit rough from handling the spools all day. We started this because there was a need for simple, reliable elastic around this area. We are not a giant factory with thousands of workers. It is just a small crew of us. We know each other’s families and what is going on in the neighborhood. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside on the street and wait for it to come back on. You cannot really rush these things. If the tension on the machine is even a little bit off, the whole batch is ruined. So we just stay focused and do the work. It is practical and keeps us busy.
