Aruna Alloy Steels

Our place is on Palli Street in Sivagangai. It’s an industrial sort of setup where we deal with alloy steels. We’ve been here at number 69 for quite some time now. The yard is usually full of metal rods and scrap that we move around with the small crane. It’s hot work, especially in the Tamil Nadu summers, but we are used to it by now. The office is just a small cabin at the front where we keep the ledgers and handle the billing. I spend most of my day out in the shed making sure the loads are right and the quality is what it should be. We aren’t a massive factory, just a local business trying to supply what the nearby workshops and builders need. Sometimes the trucks are late arriving from the city, and that throws our whole day off. We have a few steady workers who have been with us for years; they know the stock better than I do sometimes. We don't really have a website or anything like that, most people just know where we are and come by when they need steel. It’s dusty and loud, but it is what we do. We just focus on getting the orders out and making sure the weights are accurate. It’s a straightforward business, no frills or fancy talk. Just steel and hard work every day.
