Sunbeam School

If you go down Central Jail Road near the P/O-Cantt area, you’ll find Sunbeam School right where the road curves. It's not a huge place, but we make do with the space we have. Most mornings start with the sound of shoes on the pavement as everyone walks in. Being near the jail road means it’s a fairly well-known landmark for people living around here. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the daily chores of running a school. There are always books to move or a leaky tap that needs fixing in the back. The classrooms have big windows, which is nice when there's a breeze, though it gets hot in the afternoons. We see a lot of the same faces every year, brothers and sisters coming through one after another. Our staff mostly lives nearby, so we see each other at the market too. It’s a plain building, nothing too special to look at from the outside, but it stays busy from morning until late afternoon. The bells are quite loud, you can probably hear them from a few houses away. We keep the front gate shut during the day for safety, then it’s a rush when school lets out. Life here is mostly just about getting through the lessons and making sure the kids are where they need to be. It's a steady routine.
