R.K. Model High School

Our school, R.K. Model High School, is located on Tajpur Road, specifically down Street No 8. If you know Ludhiana, you know this area is pretty packed, and our street is no different. It’s a narrow lane where you have to be careful when two bikes are trying to pass each other. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building has grown slowly over the years, adding a bit here and a bit there as we needed more space. It’s not a perfect layout, but it works for us and the families who live around here. Most of the kids walk to school because they live just a few streets away. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day—the vendors calling out and the general hum of the city. We don’t have a giant field for sports, but the kids make do with the courtyard and the little bit of space we have. The rooms can get a bit stuffy when it’s crowded, but we open the windows and let the breeze in. It feels like a real part of the community, not some isolated campus. Sometimes the walls need a fresh coat of paint and the stairs are worn down from so many feet, but that just shows how much the place is used. It’s a practical place for practical people.
