Our place is in Hargobind Nagar, right on the corner of RK Vaidya Marg. It’s a busy intersection, so there is always a lot of noise from the rickshaws and motorbikes passing by. I spend my days handling various phone things and helping people with their bills. The counter is a bit scratched up and worn from all the years of daily use. I don't see any real reason to change it yet. We get all sorts of people coming in from the surrounding streets. Some are looking for new mobile connections, others just want to pay a quick bill and leave. I try to keep the paperwork organized in files, but it piles up quickly on the desk. The walls are covered with old posters that have been there since the day we first opened. They’re a bit yellowed and curled at the edges now. It’s just a standard local shop like any other. Nothing fancy or modern about the way we do things. I have a small wooden stool behind the counter where I sit and read the local paper when things are slow in the afternoon. In the rainy season, the roof leaks a tiny bit in the far corner, so I have to be careful to keep the electronics away from that spot. People in Hargobind Nagar are good neighbors and we’ve all been here a while. I know most of their stories by now. It’s just a small business trying to keep things moving.
