Kendriya Vidyalaya

Kendriya Vidyalaya is located inside the Air Force Station in Halwara, which is out in the Ludhiana district. Because we are situated on a military base, things tend to run in a very specific way here. Most of the kids who come to our school are from families serving in the air force, so they are used to moving from one city to another every few years. We see new students arriving all the time and say goodbye to others when their parents get transferred. The campus is spread out with solid government buildings that aren't fancy but get the job done. We have the usual playgrounds and long rows of classrooms. Life at the school follows the rhythm of the air force station itself. You can often hear the sounds of the base in the background while we are in the middle of a history or math lesson. Our teachers come from all over India, which is pretty typical for a school like this. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that; the principal’s room is just a plain space with wooden furniture and some old files. We just focus on the daily lessons and the activities that the school board gives us. It’s a disciplined environment but the kids are still just kids, playing during their breaks and worrying about their exams. Being in Halwara is a bit quieter than being in Ludhiana city, and we just keep the school running day by day.
