Kanwaljit Singh Sobti is based in a very specific part of the city. We are in Durga Puri, in a lane that everyone knows as Friends Dharam Kanda Wali Gali. The address number is 2196. If you are trying to find us, just ask for the street with the big weighbridge, which is what Dharam Kanda means. It is a narrow gali where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have been here for years, and the space is more of a workshop and office combined. It is definitely not a corporate environment. There are always motorcycles parked out front and kids playing nearby. We handle our daily operations from this small room filled with old furniture and stacks of paper. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to worry about that. Most of our work comes from the local area or people who have been dealing with the Sobti family for a long time. It is a bit cramped, and the street gets quite muddy when it rains, but it is our place. We do not spend money on advertisements or fancy signs. Our reputation in the gali and the surrounding Durga Puri area is enough for us. We just focus on the work at hand and try to get things done without too much fuss.
