Interior Designer Co is right in the middle of the action at Chowk Ghumar Mandi. If you know Ghumar Mandi, you know how busy and crowded it gets during the day. Our shop is easy to find because it’s right there at the chowk. It’s a loud, bustling place to work, but we wouldn’t have it any other way because we like being near the market. We spend most of our time dealing with the daily grind of designing spaces for people. Inside the shop, it’s a bit of a mess with wood samples, catalogs, and rolls of drawings scattered everywhere on the tables. We aren’t big on fancy decorations for our own office; we’re way too busy working on other people’s places to worry about ours. Every morning starts with a lot of noise from the market outside as the other shops open up their shutters. We usually have people coming in and out all day—contractors, suppliers, and locals asking for a bit of help. It’s a very hands-on job, and we’re often out on-site checking on the progress of a renovation or talking to the painters. Back at the chowk, we try to keep some sense of order, but it’s hard when you’re managing several different projects at once. We don’t do any corporate talk or polished presentations. We just sit down with a pencil and some paper and figure out the best way to use a room. It’s a tough, busy environment in Ghumar Mandi, but it keeps us going.
