Over at Deepak Telecom, we’re on the 25th Cross in the Gill area, on R T Street 1. It’s a narrow street, so parking is always a problem for the customers. I tell them to just park around the corner and walk. We’ve been here since the kids were small. It’s a family-run thing, mostly. We have boxes of wires and phone parts scattered around because we’re always fixing something or another. The light in the back room flickers sometimes, I really should get that fixed. It’s a small shop, maybe too small for all the things we try to fit inside. People stop by to pay bills or just to ask questions about their mobile plans. I try to keep up with the new tech but it changes so fast. My son is better at that stuff than I am. He helps out after school. We know the milkman and the newspaper guy who pass by every morning. It feels like a small village even though we’re in the middle of all this. We don’t have a big sign, just the name Deepak Telecom painted on the glass. It’s enough. People know where we are. We close up around eight and head home. Tomorrow will be the same as today, and that’s fine by me. We don't need much else besides our regular customers and a bit of quiet time. Just a small shop on a small street.
