Down here in Ludhiana, things stay pretty busy at the gate. We are located in Naveen Nagar, right on Street 1 near Jassian Road. It’s a solid building, number 6855. Being in security means you see a lot of people coming and going every single day. We spend a lot of time standing around the entrance or sitting in the small guard shack checking IDs and logs. The weather in Punjab gets really tough, especially in the summer heat and then the biting cold in January. We’ve got our uniforms and our logbooks, and that’s about it. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do to keep the place running smooth. You get to know the regulars, the people who work at Hero DMC and the delivery drivers who come by every afternoon. Sometimes there’s a bit of a crowd at the entrance, especially during shift changes. We have to keep things moving so the road doesn't get blocked. The area around Haibowal has changed a lot, more houses and more traffic now. We just stay focused on the task. It’s a lot of watching and waiting. We don't have much in the way of an office, just a desk and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. It’s a practical setup for a practical job. We just try to make sure everything stays quiet and there's no trouble for anyone inside. Most shifts are routine, which is actually good for security.
