Bhatia Fast Food

If you come to Ambika Chowk in Ludhiana, you will see Bhatia Fast Food in Parsi Sheri. It is usually quite hot in the kitchen because the stoves are always going. We do fast food, mostly the stuff people like to eat when they are in a hurry. The oil pops and the exhaust fan makes a rattling sound that we have gotten used to. We started this because we needed something to do and we knew how to cook. There isn't much space for sitting, so a lot of people just stand around or take their food to go. The street outside is always busy with scooters and people walking. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles until the generator kicks in. It makes things interesting. We get our vegetables from the market nearby every morning. The onions make us cry while we chop them in the back. We don't have a big menu. We just stick to what we know how to make. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but we are always too busy serving customers to get to it. Parsi Sheri is a narrow place, so it gets tight when the lunch crowd arrives. We just keep the spatulas moving and try to get the orders out. It’s just us working hard every day. We hope to stay here as long as we can. It’s just a busy little spot.
