Lahori Ram Jia Lal has been a name on G.T Road in Mandi Kesar Ganj for many years. This part of the city is always full of activity because of the wholesale trade. We are right in the thick of it. Our building is one of those older structures that has seen a lot of history. Inside, it’s mostly filled with bags and sacks of goods, depending on what the season is. The floor is made of old stone and the walls are thick, which keeps it a bit cooler in the summer, though not by much. We start our work very early in the morning when the trucks begin arriving at the Mandi. There is a lot of shouting and noise as people load and unload goods. We spend most of our time weighing things out or writing down orders in our ledgers. We still use paper books for a lot of our tracking because it's just the way we've always done it. G.T Road is always loud with the sound of horns and engines, but after a while, you just stop noticing it. People come to Mandi Kesar Ganj from all over to buy in bulk. It’s a traditional way of doing business, based on long-standing relationships and knowing the people you are dealing with. We don't change things much around here because the old ways still work fine for us. It gets messy sometimes but that's just business.
