B T Metal & Engineering Works

We are located in Industrial Area B, at 63-R. It’s a pretty standard engineering workshop. At B T Metal & Engineering Works, we mostly focus on the mechanical side of things. We have a few lathes and some drilling machines that have been around as long as I can remember. The floors are concrete and stained with oil, which is how an engineering shop should look. We do a lot of repair work and making parts that people can’t find anywhere else. It’s a lot of measuring and double-checking. If you get it wrong by a hair, the whole piece is no good. That’s why we take our time. The sun comes in through the high windows in the morning, which is the best time to work. Later on, it gets a bit stuffy. We have a few fans going, but they mostly just move the warm air around. We get all sorts of people coming in with broken parts, hoping we can fix them. We do what we can. It’s satisfying to see an old machine part working again after we’ve spent a few hours on it. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, one of us just wipes his hands and picks it up.
