Out here at 150, Model House in Ludhiana, things get pretty loud. Munish Forge is right in the thick of things. Ludhiana is known for this kind of work, and our forge is no different. It’s hot, especially near the machinery where the metal gets worked on. You can’t really keep your clothes clean in a place like this, so we all just wear old stuff that can take a beating. There’s a specific rhythm to the hammers and the clanging of iron that becomes background noise after you’ve worked here for a week or two. We don’t have a fancy corporate headquarters; we just have this space where we get the job done. The walls are stained with soot and there are piles of scrap metal in the yard that we eventually get around to sorting. Lunch breaks are usually spent sitting on whatever is available, just chatting about local politics or family stuff. It’s a real working-man’s environment. We don’t spend money on shiny brochures or big signs. People who need what we make know where we are. It’s a bit gritty, and the air always has that metallic tang to it. We take pride in the fact that we can still do a lot of the heavy lifting ourselves. It’s hard work, but it’s honest, and it keeps the lights on at home.
