Ashok Bhandari

Ashok Bhandari here at Jagraon, specifically over in Bhori Ali. It’s been a while since we first opened up shop around this corner. Things change but we’re still here doing what we do every day. The street gets pretty busy in the mornings, especially when the trucks come through. We try to keep things organized but sometimes it’s just a mess of boxes and people asking for things all at once. My brother helps out most days when he isn’t busy with his own stuff. It’s not a big fancy place, just some shelves and a desk where we handle the paperwork. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside until it comes back on. It’s how it goes in Jagraon. We’ve known the neighbors for years, even the ones who moved away and come back to visit. We don't really do much advertising because people just know where we are. If you walk down the main alley, you’ll see the sign, though it’s a bit faded from the sun now. We spend a lot of time just talking to folks who stop by for a chat. It isn’t always about work. Sometimes it’s just about the heat or what’s happening in the market. We keep a ledger on the counter to track things. It’s a simple setup but it works for us. We’ve been at this address long enough that it feels like home.
