Rameshwar Salt Works

Started working at Plot No. Sdx-s-80 quite a few years back now. It is just salt, you know? Most people don't think about it much when they see it on a table, but out here it is a whole different story. The sun hits the pans and it gets so bright you can barely see without squinting all day. We spend a lot of time just moving piles and making sure the water is doing what it should. My hands are always rough from the salt, and my boots never seem to stay clean for more than five minutes. It’s not a fancy job. We don’t have a big front desk or a lobby. If you come by, you’ll probably find us near the back heaps or checking the levels. Sometimes the weather doesn't play nice and we have to scramble to cover things up. It’s a lot of physical work, honestly. We have a small shed where we keep the tools and take our tea breaks when the heat gets to be too much. It is just Rameshwar Salt Works, nothing more and nothing less. We just keep our heads down and get the bags filled and loaded. It’s a simple life at the plot. Some days are longer than others, especially when a truck shows up late. We just get it done.
