Midindia Power Steel Ltd is out in Kindarva, which is near Veraval in the Junagadh district of Gujarat. Dilavarsinh Dodia is the main person here at the site. It is an industrial area, so it is not the most beautiful place to look at. There is a lot of dust and the sound of heavy machinery is something we hear all day long. We deal with power and steel, which is hard work that requires a lot of attention. The yard is quite big because we have to store large pieces of metal and other materials. We have a group of workers who have been with us for a long time. They know the routine and they get on with it without needing much direction. The sun in Gujarat is very strong, so we all wear hats and try to stay in the shade when we can. Our office on the site is just a small cabin with a desk and some chairs. It is purely for handling the paperwork and orders that come in. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone to handle social media. We just talk to our customers directly over the phone. It is a very hands-on business. Being close to Veraval is useful for transport, but mostly we just focus on the work right here in Kindarva. It’s a tough, honest way to make a living.
