Chhaya Steel Industries

Chhaya Steel Industries is sitting on Plot No. 72 in Sector-10-A, which is part of the Light Industrial Area. It’s a fairly straightforward setup here. We deal with a lot of steel, so everything in the building feels heavy and cold to the touch. The floor is concrete and has plenty of scratches from moving the metal sheets around over the years. We start the day when the sun is barely up to get a head start before the heat sets in. The sound of the saws cutting through steel is something you never quite get used to, but it’s just part of the routine. We have a small corner where we keep the records and the phone, but mostly we are out where the machines are. The light industrial area is always full of trucks and people moving crates. We know our neighbors well enough to say hello in the morning. Sometimes we share tools if someone is in a bind. It’s not a high-tech facility with shiny walls. It’s a place where we work with our hands and get dirty. The steel arrives in big bundles and leaves in smaller pieces or frames. We don’t have a big marketing team or anyone to answer the phones with a script. You just get one of us. We’ve been at this plot for a while and we know the quirks of the building, like the door that always sticks in the winter.
