Working out of Benifit Corner in Mundra means you’re always near the action of the port. You can smell the salt in the air and hear the distant hum of the cranes. Our unit, F-4, is a busy little hub. Mundra has grown so fast, and we’re right in the middle of that growth. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with the shipping agents and the transport companies. The yard is constantly full of movement. We don’t have much time for formalities here. If a truck is waiting, that’s the priority. The heat can be something else, especially when the humidity from the Gulf of Kutch kicks in. We keep the water coolers running and just get on with it. It’s a practical kind of place. You’ll see plenty of boots and hard hats lying around because we’re always on the move. We handle the paperwork in between checking the loads. It’s loud, it’s hectic, and it can be a bit chaotic on Mondays when everyone wants their stuff at once. We’ve learned to navigate the local bureaucracy and the port schedules over the years. It’s not the kind of job you leave at the door, but we enjoy the pace. When the shift ends, there’s a sense of accomplishment seeing the empty bays. It’s a gritty, hardworking environment that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. We just get the pipes where they need to go on time.
