Ahir Salt Industries

You can find us at Chetna Chambers, on the first floor. We are in Sector-9 of Gandhidham, right on Plot 38. This part of Kachchh is all about the salt, as you probably know. Ahir Salt Industries is a small operation compared to the giants out there, but we have our own way of doing things. We spend a lot of time coordinating between the salt pans and the transport trucks. The office is small and usually filled with the sound of the ceiling fan and the local radio. It gets very dusty out here, and you can almost taste the salt in the air on some days. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. People just come in, sit on the plastic chairs, and talk about prices and shipping dates. It’s a straightforward business. We buy, we process a bit, and we sell. My family has been in this area for a long time, so we know how the seasons affect the salt harvest. It’s a lot of waiting for the right weather. When it rains, everything stops, and we just wait it out in the office. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide decent salt to the people who need it for their businesses.
