Gov School Santhour

Gov School Santhour is located right on Puliyoor Road in Krishnagiri. It’s a government-run place, so it’s pretty straightforward without any bells and whistles. The main building is a long structure with several classrooms facing the open ground. We have a big gate at the entrance that we lock every evening after everyone goes home. The road outside, Puliyoor Road, gets a fair amount of traffic, so we have to watch out for the kids when they’re leaving for the day. Inside the school, things are pretty basic. We have the usual desks and chairs, and a small office where all the paperwork for the district is kept. The walls have some old posters about health and geography that have been there for years and are starting to peel. During the lunch break, the whole place smells like the food being served in the kitchen area. It’s a noisy, lively time of day. Most of the kids come from the nearby villages and farms around Krishnagiri. They bring their bags and water bottles and spend the day with us. We don’t have fancy computers or a big library, just the standard textbooks and whatever supplies we get assigned. It’s an honest place where we just try to get the teaching done. The courtyard is dusty because of the dry weather, but that’s just how it is in this part of the state. It’s a regular school for regular people in the local area.
