Sydney Montessori School

You can find us in Gandhi Nagar, over in Kottayam. We run a Montessori school here. It’s a bit different from the usual schools people are used to seeing. The kids spend a lot of time working with their hands and moving around the room. We have lots of different materials on the low shelves for them to use whenever they want. Kottayam is a very green place, and we try to have some plants around the school too. It's usually a bit quieter here than a big high school with teenagers. The children are much younger, so we spend a lot of time on the floor with them. We don't have a fancy reception desk or a lobby. It’s more of a home-like feel inside with small chairs and tables. The staff knows every child by their name and their parents too. We don't really do much advertising around town. Most people hear about us from their neighbors or friends. It’s a very practical way of learning. We have to keep things very organized because there are so many small parts to the Montessori lessons. Sometimes the kids make a mess with the water activities or the sand trays, but we just clean it up together. It’s part of how they learn about the world. We aren't a corporate chain; we are just this one school in Gandhi Nagar. We focus on what the kids are doing each day.
