Amala Public School

We are situated in Thirumanivenkitapuram, which is a bit of a mouthful for people who aren't from this part of Kottayam. Specifically, the school is at Moothedathukav. It’s a fairly green area and the school grounds have some trees around them to keep things a bit cooler when the sun is out. Every morning is the same routine with the parents dropping off their kids and the teachers getting the classrooms ready. We aren't trying to be the biggest school in the district or anything like that. We just provide a place for the local children to study their subjects and play during their lunch hour. The classrooms are basic and we have a small office where the mail gets delivered and parents come to talk about their kids. Kottayam weather can be quite wet during the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time making sure the roofs aren't leaking and the kids stay dry. It’s a community vibe here because everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We have the usual school events and exams that keep us all busy throughout the year. It’s just a regular local school where the day starts early and ends when the final bell rings in the afternoon. We do our work and go home just like everyone else in the neighborhood. It is a quiet existence but we like it that way.
