Our business is located in Rampura Bazar, right across from the Maharani Girls School. It is an old part of town and we have been in this building for generations. The street is always full of students and parents, which gives the place a lot of energy. We mostly deal in traditional goods and wholesale items. The shop has high ceilings and old wooden shelves that have seen better days. We keep a lot of our stock in the back room and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for. It is a family-run operation, so there is usually one of us sitting at the front desk drinking tea and talking to whoever walks in. We don't really use much technology here, we still keep a lot of our accounts in paper ledgers. Rampura Bazar is a tight-knit community and everyone knows everyone else’s business. Being opposite the Maharani Girls School means we see the whole neighborhood grow up. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are and what we carry. Sometimes the traffic in the bazaar gets so bad that we have to wait a long time for our deliveries to reach the door. But we are used to the pace of life here. It’s just how things have always been for us at M/S Madhusudan Das Govind Das.
