Mahadev Beej Bhandar

Mahadev Beej Bhandar is located at A-1 in the Dhanmandi area. We primarily deal with different kinds of seeds and other supplies that farmers need for their crops. It’s a very busy place to be, especially during the peak sowing seasons when everyone is in a hurry. The shop is usually filled to the brim with large sacks of seeds, and the distinct smell of dry earth and grain is always present. We have to be quite careful about any moisture getting in, so we make sure to keep every bag off the floor by using wooden pallets. Dhanmandi is a major hub for this type of trade, so there is always a lot of movement outside with tractors and trolleys going back and forth. I usually wear my older clothes to work because the fine dust from the seeds tends to get on absolutely everything by midday. We don't use any kind of computer system here; we just know what is inside each bag by looking at the handwritten labels. Farmers come from many of the nearby villages to get their supplies from us. We spend a good amount of time talking to them about the rain and how the soil is doing this season. It’s about knowing the land and the people who work it. My son helps me with the heavy lifting because my back isn't what it used to be. We have a small desk for money.
