Maruti Agro Commodities

You can find us over at E 134 on Road No 5 in the IPIA area. We deal with agro commodities here at Maruti, so there’s always a lot of heavy lifting involved. The warehouse is pretty large but it fills up fast when the new stock arrives. We spend a lot of time weighing bags and checking the quality of what comes in. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but the road is wide enough for the big lorries. The floor is concrete and gets quite cold in the winter mornings. We have a small desk tucked in the corner where we keep the ledgers. It's not the cleanest place because of all the grain and husks flying around. We usually start early before the sun gets too strong. My brother helps with the accounts while I manage the laborers out on the floor. We’ve seen the area change quite a bit over the years. More shops have opened up nearby lately. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the mud if it rains hard. We just keep a few umbrellas by the door. It’s hard work and your back definitely feels it by the end of the shift. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that rattle a bit. People stop by to check prices and we chat over a glass of water. It's a basic operation but it keeps us busy every day. We just get on with things.
