Maa Pradhani Farmer Producer Company Limited is based over in Mahuldhipa, right near Ward 11 here in Deogarh. We spend most of our days out in the fields or sitting around the office talking about how the crops are coming along this year. It is a small place, mostly just folks from around the municipality who know each other's names. We started this because it made sense to work together instead of everyone just doing their own thing. Sometimes the weather is okay and sometimes it is really not, but that is how it goes when you are working the land. We handle a lot of the usual stuff you’d expect from a farming group in this part of Odisha. The office isn't anything fancy, just a desk and some chairs where we figure out who needs what for the next planting season. Mostly we’re just busy with the day-to-day jobs that need doing. You’ll usually find someone around if you drop by Kota Sahiward. It’s a quiet spot but we keep moving. Everyone around here puts in a lot of hard work. We do not really have big fancy speeches or anything, just the work itself. If someone needs seeds or advice on their vegetables, they just stop by and we chat. It has been a long road getting everything set up, but we are managing to keep things going. The dirt on our boots is real and so is the coffee we drink while looking at the rain clouds.
