Jain

Jain is located over at Mahaveer Nagar 10. It’s one of those narrow streets where parking is always a bit of a headache, so most people just walk or use a scooter to get to us. The shopfront is small and easy to miss if you aren’t looking for the number 10. Inside, the space is packed pretty tight with shelves and boxes. There isn’t much room to walk around, but we know where everything is kept. The air is always a little thick with the smell of old paper and maybe a bit of incense from the small shrine near the entrance. We keep the door open most of the day to let people see we are in, even when it’s dusty outside. It’s mostly just family and a couple of helpers running the show here. We don't use any fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is still done with a pen and a notebook. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit on the stools outside and talk to the neighbors until it comes back on. It’s a slow pace of life but it suits us just fine. We’ve seen the kids in this neighborhood grow up over the years we’ve been here. It’s a very simple setup without any bells or whistles, just a regular local business doing its thing day in and day out for the people around here.
