Our group, Bhattadanaadu Farmer Producer Company Limited, is located at #25 in Hosakera, over in the Kotayya Camp area of Ganagavathi. If you know this region, you know it's famous for its rice, and that's exactly what most of us focus on. We named the company after the land itself because that’s what we care about the most. We aren't some distant corporation with a tall office building. Our office is right here where the work happens. Most days are spent talking to the local growers and seeing how the water levels are or if the pests are causing trouble again. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We started this because we were tired of being at the mercy of middle-men who didn't understand the effort we put in. Now, we gather at Kotayya Camp to plan our harvests and share what we know about the soil. It’s not always a smooth process. Sometimes we disagree on things, and sometimes the weather just doesn't cooperate, but we keep at it. We don't have any polished mission statements or slogans. We just want to make sure the rice farmers in Ganagavathi can earn a decent living and keep their families fed. It's about being fair and looking out for each other.
