Our place is on Sombhu Halder Lane in Salkia, which is over in Howrah. If you know the area, you know the lanes are quite narrow and can get pretty crowded with people and cycles. We’re at number 67, a building that’s been around for a long time. Inside, we have our security gear stacked up on metal shelves. It’s a bit of a maze with all the boxes of cables and DVRs. We don't have any flashy lights or a front desk. Most of the time, we’re out at sites, so the office is just where we keep our tools and parts. When we are here, it’s mostly to plan out the next job or fix a piece of equipment that a customer brought back. The air gets a bit heavy during the monsoon, and the walls show some damp patches, but that’s just how it is in Howrah. We have a small window that looks out onto the lane, and we can hear the street vendors calling out all day long. It’s an honest kind of work environment. We don't worry about having the newest furniture or fancy computers for the office. We just need our screwdrivers and testing monitors to work. Sometimes the neighbors pop their heads in to ask a question or just to say hello. It’s a very local way of doing things, and we’ve been part of this street for a good bit now. It is dusty but we don't mind much.
